Welcome to the Inland Empire *BIPOC

Community DoulaTraining

Join the Sankofa Birthworker Collective Community Doula training to make a real impact in the realm of maternal health.

Like the rest of the country, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties (the Inland Empire) of Southern California experience ongoing health disparities. BIPOC doulas play a crucial role in advocating for birthing individuals. Be the change you want to see. We believe in the power of community, advocacy, and empowerment. Our BIPOC Community Doula training is more than just a course; it is a movement.

*BIPOC Definition: BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. It is used to highlight and address the unique challenges faced by Black and Indigenous individuals, while also including all people of color

Examples of BIPOC Individuals:

• Black: Individuals of African descent, including African Americans, Afro-Caribbeans, and Africans from the diaspora.

• Indigenous: Native Americans, First Nations, Métis, Inuit, or other Indigenous peoples globally.

• People of Color: Includes Asian, South Asian, Pacific Islander, Latinx, Middle Eastern, and other non-white communities.

Why BIPOC Doulas Matter

Bridge Health Care Gaps with Knowledge and Cultural Empathy

  • The disparities in health care can be daunting. Doulas hold skills that lighten the pressure of families having to “know it all” while preparing to welcome a new baby. They possess the expertise needed to navigate complex healthcare systems and provide a culturally empathetic touch, understanding the unique needs and experiences of birthing individuals.

Be part of this movement

• Join us on this transformative journey. Become a part of the movement that is making a real difference in the lives of mothers and birthing individuals. Our training equips you with the knowledge and skills to be an advocate, a source of strength, and a symbol of hope in the current birthing landscape.
